These shifts include increased sedentary behavior and decreased physical activity. These factors, along with poor dietary and sleep habits, mixed with increased substance use can be a precursor to poor mental health. While there is existing evidence of the above factors associations with poor mental health, the literature is from a single timepoint with low cultural representation that focuses on a very limited subset of mental health profiles. By using a more thorough set of questionnaires from a large range of mental health profiles and accessing a broad population from around the world, UNILIFE-M has the potential to understand how changing lifestyle behaviors affect multiple mental health profiles in college students during their college years.
